Derek Nuzum embarked on his financial services career in 2005, joining his father's insurance agency as the fourth generation of his family to be a part of the business. Encouraged by his father to explore the life insurance industry, Derek quickly found his calling. Early in his journey, he was introduced to a veteran in the business, John Windsor, a MassMutual Pittsburgh representative with over 50 years of experience. John became Derek's mentor, guiding him as he joined MassMutual Pittsburgh in 2006 where he has been ever since.

Derek began his practice with a focus on protection sales, primarily in life, disability income, and long-term care insurance. By 2013, he expanded his approach to include holistic financial services, incorporating investments and retirement planning alongside his continued work in protection. Derek has since helped three different MassMutual Pittsburgh representatives retire and continues to service that existing clientele.

With offices in both Fairmont and Morgantown, WV, Derek serves clients locally and across the country. He prides himself on a collaborative, team-based approach, working closely with his office manager, Jessica Smith, as well as fellow financial professional Jeff Bailey and his staff. Derek is backed by the strength of MassMutual Pittsburgh team, leveraging the expertise of the firm's specialists to provide exceptional guidance and service to his clients.

Born and raised in Fairmont, WV, Derek graduated from Hocking College in Nelsonville, Ohio. He is a proud husband and father of three children.
