Financial Services Professional
Background
Eleven years in a variety of management positions with the former Champion Products laid the foundation for Georg’s transition to financial services. Joining Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company (MassMutual) in 1986, Georg has never looked back. “After the shakeup at Champion, I was looking for a new challenge…preferably one that offered more autonomy and control,” explains Georg. “An insurance agent friend suggested financial services and the rest was history.”
Philosophy
For Georg, working with clients is a process. “Helping clients reach their goals is very important to me; the most gratifying part of my job,” adds Georg. Getting to really know clients is all part of that process. “From day one it was drilled into me to be client- and-solutions focused and not product focused.” Hence, Georg believes that being a resource to clients and their families is vitally important. “Successful financial advisors are with their clients through good and bad times,” Georg points out.
Georg considers himself adept at finding unique solutions to unique problems. “A big part of what I do involves ‘patient education’ much like what a doctor would do,” according to Georg. Whether the client is a pre-retirement professional needing to roll over funds or a family concerned about how to address long term care needs, the story is the same. “I help clients mitigate risk and protect what’s really important to them.”
Because of his years of experience, Georg has become a resource to other agents in the firm. One area in which he brings considerable expertise is long term care. “I am good at helping clients identify problems and identify cost-effective solutions.”
With so many years in the business, most of Georg’s business comes from referrals either from existing clients or their professional advisors, including attorneys, accountants and bankers. One example of a best-fit client is someone within ten years of retirement who has worked hard and wishes to protect his or her assets. “I like to say that my best client is someone who loves his family,” states Georg.
