Janice E. Smith is a financial advisor with Charter Oak Financial, whose proud history dates back to 1886. Janice focuses her practice on the life insurance, retirement planning, wealth management and risk management needs of individuals, small business owners and non-profit organizations.
Janice’s professional career originally began as a counseling psychologist by way of a master’s degree in pyschology and education from Columbia University. She transitioned to financial services in 1985 and has been with a MassMutual firm ever since. She furthered her knowledge in the field by earning her professional designations of Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU®) and Chartered Special Needs Consultant (ChSNC®) from the American College, and a Certification for Long Term-Care (CLTC®) from the CLTC Board of Standards.
Outside of the office, Janice is a member of The Links, Incorporated organization, which is comprised of accomplished women committed to enriching, sustaining, and ensuring the culture and economic survival of African Americans and other persons of African ancestry. The Links is one of the nation’s oldest and largest volunteer service organizations. Janice is also a dedicated member of the United Methodist Church, where she regularly attends church services. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, swimming and decompressing with yoga.
Janice resides in Freeport with her husband and daughter.
