J.K. McAndrews brings to the Greater Houston area an exceptional record of leadership and strategic vision from over 30 years of experience working within the financial services industry as an agent, Sales Manager and General Agent. He began his career as an agent with Mutual of New York in 1982, became a Sales Manager in his own district office in 1990 and assumed the leadership of the Houston office as Managing Director in 1998. He has spent the last 13 years as President and CEO of MassMutual Greater Houston (MMGH), a MassMutual General Agency, which has served the Houston area since 1903. Under J.K.’s leadership, MMGH has grown from fewer than 40 advisors to more than 100.

As President and CEO, J.K. is responsible for the overall management of the firm as well as developing the firm’s corporate relationships and alliances. As a part of this endeavor, in 2015 MassMutual Greater Houston in partnership with the Houston Rockets, established the FutureSmart Program. This program is designed to promote financial education amongst students and deliver compelling messages and tools to empower these youth to start thinking about their financial future. A second goal is to support local agencies by driving awareness and promoting business development and networking opportunities with local communities and businesses. He is also heavily involved in attracting and recruiting experienced advisors and development of the leadership team. The Houston agency has won multiple MassMutual awards, including; six Chairman’s Trophies (2003, 2007, 2010, 2011, 2014, 2017) including their second Gold Bowl in 2010 and four Crystal Achievement awards (2007, 2010, 2011, 2012).

J.K.’s outlook for the firm is to reflect the diversity of Houston, one of the most diverse metropolises in the country with a demographic composition of 40% woman and 50% multicultural. He has enacted several initiatives to achieve this goal, emphasizing on Houston’s growing Hispanic market. This initiative began the partnership with J.K. and Dr. Laura Murillo, President and CEO of the Houston Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. With locations in Central Houston, Downtown Houston and burgeoning presence in the Woodlands area J.K.’s vision and focus is to insure that everyone in the Greater Houston area has an opportunity to work with a MassMutual professional.

J.K. has been part of MassMutual’s General Agent’s Association for many years, chairing several committees and is currently an officer serving as past President.

J.K. is married to Margaret and they have two sons; Kevin, who joined MM in 2014 and Kyle, who is an architecture major at Texas A&M.
