John Reid was born and raised in Gainesville, FL before moving to Montgomery, AL. When he was younger, his sister could not pronounce his name, calling him Joppa instead. The nickname stuck and is what he commonly goes by. Upon graduating high school, he attended the University of Alabama where he graduated Summa Cum Laude with a B.S. in Finance and a minor in Real Estate.

Joppa joined the IPG team as a planning coordinator prior to launching into his current role as a financial planner. He enjoys spending time with friends and family, being outdoors, and cheering on the Crimson Tide.
