Frank came to the United States from Shanghai, China. Intrinsically curious about human life, he earned a PhD in Biological Sciences at Carnegie Mellon University, where he studied functions of a tumor suppressor. Like many people in 2007, he was deeply touched by "The Last Lecture: Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams" given by the late CMU computer science professor, Dr. Randy Pausch. After pushing back the frontiers of science for a decade, he realized the equal importance of preserving what we have in life besides exploring the unknowns in nature, especially after becoming a husband and a dad himself.
