Mike offers a wide range of services for successful working professionals. Through careful listening, he learns about each client’s unique objectives, and then designs a strategic financial plan to help accomplish their goals. Mike feels his services are especially helpful for individuals who are at or near retirement. He can help them plan for the transition from accumulating assets, to counting on them for daily living. Mike understands that most people are so concerned about saving for retirement, that they never take time to think about spending in retirement. He knows it’s critical to plan for challenges like the risk of outliving savings, withdrawing too much too soon, investment losses, and increases in future health care costs. Mike is well-known in the St. Louis area for his expertise in retirement income planning. He was one of the first advisors to be recognized as earning the Retirement Income Certified Professional (RICP®) designation.
Industry education and certification are extremely important to Mike, so immediately after beginning his career he began earning industry designations. In addition to the RICP®, he is a Certified Financial Planner™ (CFP®) professional and earned his Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU®), and Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC®) designations. He keeps current on industry events as a member of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors.
A St. Louis native, Mike graduated from the business school at the University of Missouri-Columbia with a degree in Business Management. He liked numbers and learning about finance, and he knew he wanted to work with people. Mike soon learned that as a financial advisor he could have a career as both a “numbers guy” and a “people-person”. True to his competitive, goal-oriented nature, Mike earned membership in the prestigious Million Dollar Round Table (2004) after only three years in financial services.
Fast forward to today, and you’ll find that Mike is still driven and passionate about the business. It’s important to him that each client receives “The Planning Experience They Deserve”. As his business grows and the immense responsibility grows along with it, Mike has decided to form a team of professionals to serve his clientele. He feels that in today’s environment, one person is not enough, and it’s important to have great back-up. As Mike says, “We are in the planning business, so it just makes sense that we have a plan for the unexpected. I want to make sure that our clients feel comfortable and secure and have a team to work with no matter what happens in life.”
Outside of work Mike keeps busy with his family, wife Lindsay and sons Caden and Mason. He’s active in his community as a frequent sponsor of events at his own high school, DeSmet Jesuit. Mike loves sports – he played basketball in college, and now coaches his boys as they get more involved in athletics. He follows all of the local teams closely; during each season you can find him rooting for the Cardinals, Billikens, Blues, and of course for his alma mater the Missouri Tigers!
