Originally from the St. Louis area (Troy, IL), Herzog graduated from Bradley University in Peoria, IL, in 1974 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Communications.

His career has included five years as advertising director with PJS Publications (formerly a magazine subsidiary of the Peoria Journal Star) and two years as an account executive with a management training company.

His career with Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company (MassMutual) began in 1980. He is a 10-time winner of “Agent of the Year”, most recently in 2009, in the Peoria General Agency of MassMutual. In 2010 he affiliated his 40 year practice with MassMutual Pittsburgh.

He is a 34-year qualifier of the insurance industry’s Million Dollar Round Table and “Top of the Table” for six times. He qualified for MassMutual’s Leaders Club 26 times and attained Blue Chip Circle 10 times.

Having earned the designation of a Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC), Herzog’s practice includes life insurance, disability income insurance, long term care, business insurance, annuities and pension plans. In addition, he is a fully-licensed registered representative with MML Investors Services LLC and offers the full range of investment products. Through 2017, he has qualified for the American Funds All-American Team 25 times.

He is past president of the Rotary Club of Peoria, member of The Society of Financial Service Professionals, Germantown Hills Chamber of Commerce, Germantown Hills Economic Development Council and is a trustee for his church.

Active on behalf of Bradley, Herzog has served as president of the National Alumni Association and the Braves Club. This season is his 44th year as the public address announcer for Bradley Braves basketball. He was inducted into the Bradley Athletics Hall of Fame in February 2011.

In 2015 he received Greater Peoria Sports Hall of Fame Neve Harms Meritorious Service Award. He was inducted into IL Basketball Association Hall of Fame in May, 2016.

He is married to Colleen and they live in Germantown Hills. Their son, Bradley graduated from Butler University and works as a manufacturer's rep in Miami, FL. Daughter, Alyssa is a senior nursing student as Bradley University.
