Professional Story

Rick Scruggs has worked with business owners and personal clients in Central Virginia and the Southeast since 1977. Rick is the principal of Financial Designs and the creator of the Vision Advocate Experience. He is a registered representative of and offers securities, investment advisory services, and financial planning through MML Investors Services, LLC, member SIPC (www.sipc.org). He is licensed to provide insurance through Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company (MassMutual) and other fine companies.

Rick is a graduate of the College of William and Mary and is designated a Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) and Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) by the American College. His training and professional education have focused on Business Continuity and Success Planning, Qualified Retirement Plans, Financial Planning, and Employee Stock Ownership Plans. He is a member of The Boston Legacy Planning Network, the Advanced Association of Life Underwriters, the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors, the Lynchburg Estate Planning Council, the NCEO, and the ESOP Association. Rick is also a qualifying and life member of the Million Dollar Round Table, and has participated in the Strategic Coach, 401-K Coach, and David Cohn and Associates 360.

Rick has served as Chairman of the Board of James River Day School, as a member of the Vestry of his church, and as a Board member with the Awareness Garden. He has been a Board member with the American Heart Association and has served as a volunteer for New Land Samaritan Inn. Rick and his wife Kandy live in Forest.
