Scott Colby, CLU, ChFC, began his career as a life insurance professional in 1978 working for his father, Charles A. Colby, CLU, General Agent and Managing Partner, in Wichita, Kansas for New England Mutual Life Insurance Company (Boston, MA). Scott has remained in Wichita for his entire career but has moved his life insurance company affiliations over time as corporate mergers and acquisitions transformed the insurance business during the past 30 years. He has represented Metropolitan Life Insurance Company in New York and, now, Synergy Wealth Solutions, a MassMutual Firm in Overland Park, Kansas. Scott is both registered for life insurance and securities businesses and holds a Series One General Securities License (NASD/FINRA).

Over the years Scott’s business has grown to about 1,000 accounts of life insurance policies, annuity contracts, and securities accounts combined. Scott has served the life insurance profession as President of the Board of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA) of Wichita and, later, of Kansas. As a member of the Kansas Board of NAIFA, Scott acts currently as liaison to the Insurance Agents Advisory Council of the Kansas Insurance Department in Topeka, Kansas. In 1998 Scott was elected President of the Board of the Society of Financial Service Professionals, Wichita Chapter.

During his college years, Scott hoped to become a college professor in the field of Chinese language and history. Eventually, he graduated from Columbia University in New York City with a Masters Degree and PhD in Modern Chinese History in 1976. Scott’s father persuaded him to return home to work in the family business in 1978.
