Steve Hirjak - Investment Adviser Representative

Steve Hirjak is a seasoned law enforcement leader and veteran with a distinguished career spanning over three decades in public service. Serving with the Seattle Police Department from 1993 to 2024, he rose through the ranks to become the Assistant Chief of Police.

Throughout his tenure, Steve demonstrated commitment and expertise in key roles, including Police Captain of both the Training Section and the Force Investigation Team, Police Lieutenant and Sergeant in force and internal investigations, as well as frontline experience as a Patrol Supervisor, Detective, and Police Officer.

Before his career in law enforcement, Steve served in the United States Air Force from 1987 to 1993, specializing in Communications and Computer Operations, where he oversaw security management for communications, computer, and cryptographic systems.

Steve’s dedication to leadership and professional development is evidenced by his involvement as a mentor to Oxford University's "Map the System" team, guiding police executives worldwide in 2022. He has presented at international conferences, including the Australia/New Zealand Institute of Police Management and the International Association of Chief's of Police Legal Officers Conference.

A graduate of prestigious programs, Steve holds credentials from Harvard Business School's Young American Leader’s Program (2019) and Leadership Tomorrow Seattle (2017) and is a graduate and mentor with the Department of Homeland Security Leadership Academy.

After retiring from public service, Steve found that getting the most out of pensions was complicated. He wanted to help those in the public safety community get the most out of theirs, so he joined MassMutual Northwest as an Investment Adviser Representative to help public safety professionals prepare for the retirement they deserve.
