It’s said that no experience is ever wasted and for Taylor the experiences he’s gained in business here and abroad have left him with a unique perspective. Upon graduating from college with a degree in accounting and finance, his travels took him to England where for two years he owned and operated a pub. “Running a business, let alone running a business in another country, provided me with a wealth of new experiences and personal growth, so that when I returned to the States I was ready and serious about applying my skills in finance,” explains Taylor in describing his circuitous path. “Earlier in my career, I had worked in investor relations and always liked the business.”
This experience served as a good foundation for the financial alliance he is a member of today. Working in collaboration with Gary Acker, Financial Services Professional, Taylor works closely with their small business and private clients. “Gary and I are able to provide a high level of service because our strengths and knowledge base complement each other well,” adds Taylor in describing their synergistic working relationship. “Gary is highly analytical on a tactical level, while I tend to look at things on a more strategic level. In the end, we’re able to translate client requirements into creative, workable solutions.”
The team’s systematic approach works well with business owners, technical professionals, early-career professionals, as well as individuals and families. “I believe one of our strengths is our strategic agility, that is our skill in asking smart questions, listening effectively to what clients say and don’t say, and our ability to help devise creative solutions that pull in all the resources of Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company (MassMutual).”
Taylor takes a great deal of pride in his non-traditional approach to building client relationships and earning their trust and referrals. “I enjoy being a resource to clients and prospective clients,” adds Taylor. “I enjoy helping professionals and business owners understand their options and make sound financial decisions early on.”
For Taylor, the key to working effectively to meet client financial goals and objectives is carefully diagnosing, assessing and understanding what matters most. “I take a needs-driven approach,” says Taylor. “My goal is to close the gap and put the client on track to meeting their financial or insurance goal.
